2008 Harmony Award Honorees
The GMCW Harmony Award recognizes individuals and organizations that exemplify the Gay Men's Chorus of Washington's mission to "affirm the place of gay people in society."

Noi Chudnoff (Posthumous)
Harmony Award: Individual from the Community
Because Noi Chudnoff was such a powerful spirit, her influence remains a force in our community. As a pioneering entrepreneur in a struggling part of the city, she established go mama go! — a business that transacts more than commerce. As a patron of the arts, she committed her energy to DC's premier GLBT arts company (Ganymede Arts), in addition to her support of GMCW. And as an advocate for social and health services in our community, Noi was a smiling reminder to us all of our responsibility beyond our selves even after her death.

SMYAL: Sexual Minority Youth Assistance League
Harmony Award: Organization
The mission of SMYAL, “to promote and support self-confident, healthy, productive lives for LGBTQ youth,” has been a critically important service to the Washington area since SMYAL’s founding in 1984. In serving hundreds of young people each year with key programs on life skills and leadership, health and wellness, safe social activities and more, their work with youth contributes greatly to building personal esteem and community pride.

Larry Rosen
Harmony Award: GMCW Member
As a member since 1993 and support section leader, Larry Rosen has proven himself the most versatile of volunteers. The span of his work includes backstage leadership as a producer and stage manager, volunteering in the GMCW office, serving as grammatical guru of chorus publications and keeper of the GMCW Style Guide. Larry's technical assistance, logistical expertise and attention to detail have made him the go-to support person — an asset of immense value to a member-dependent organization like GMCW.
