When I was asked to write a weekly blog, my first thought was “I’ve never even read a blog before”. I’ve heard about Rosie O’Donnell’s blog, but from what I’ve heard I thought that might not be the best direction to go in.
What I would like to do is share lots of things about the chorus and to keep you up to date about everything that we do.
But for my first official blog I thought the most important question to answer was “Why do we do what we do?” There are many reasons why we have more than 300 hundred men and women who spend thousands of hours working with and for GMCW. I’m speaking about our singers, our support staff, our volunteers, our board members, our chorus leaders, our production team, and our artistic and administrative staffs. They are our heart and our soul.

THE TOP 10 REASONS WE DO WHAT WE DO
1. We find meaning in using music and message to effect social change at home as well as around the world.
2. We enjoy offering innovative, entertaining and inspiring concerts.
3. We get to share an important part of who we are with our families, friends and co-workers.
4. We receive joy from seeing children of all ages in our audiences, especially the GLBTQSA youth from local high schools. It is gratifying to make a difference in their lives.
5. We are moved when we see the audience tears and hear the audience laughter.
6. We are blessed by the chorus friendships we have made. GMCW is the family of choice for many of us.
7. We sing because music is a language that breaks down walls of separation and can bring healing and compassion to individuals, families and whole communities.
8. We sing because of LOVE. We love choral music and we love to sing. And we love to share it with others.
9. We get to sing openly and proudly as singers in a GAY chorus.
10. Because music is the greatest healing force in the world.
