David Jobin
Executive Director

David Jobin has spent twenty years in theatre management, most recently as Managing Director of San Franscisco’s esteemed Magic Theatre – widely recognized as the nation’s premiere home for new play development. For seven years, David was the Managing Director of Pittsburgh’s City Theatre Company – another prominent new play theatre. Plays that were developed at City Theatre during David’s tenure include several staples of American regional theatre including Jeffrey Hatcher’s Compleat Female Stage Beauty, Michele Lowe’s String of Pearls, Craig Wright’s The Pavilion and Mrs. Bob Cratchit’s Wild Christmas Binge by Christopher Durang. Immediately following his work at City Theatre and prior to his time in San Francisco, David spent one year at San Jose Repertory Theatre where he initiated a financial and organizational turnaround for the company, garnering support from the City of San Jose that allowed the company to continue serving the South Bay population.

David began his career in theatre management spending eight years with the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera as the Director of the CLO Academy of Musical Theater. Mr. Jobin also directed CLO’s outreach efforts including New Horizons, which provides theater training to people with physical and developmental disabilities, and Creative Vision, a collaboration with Pittsburgh Public Schools designed to gauge the impact of arts training on young lives.

David served on the Boards of Theatre Bay Area, Renaissance City Choirs (Pittsburgh’s Gay & Lesbian Chorus), Silicon Valley Gay Men’s Chorus, GLENDA (Gay and Lesbian Neighborhood Development Association in Pittsburgh), served on the Executive Committee of the League of Resident Theatres (LORT) and has been a frequent guest speaker for Theatre Communications Group (TCG) on marketing to new audiences and board development. David has also been a singing member of Renaissance City Choirs in Pittsburgh, Silicon Valley Gay Men’s Chorus in San Jose and San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus where he also performed with the small ensemble Vocal Minority. David was one of the organizers of the Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force's long-running Gay Bingo and served as artistic coordinator of Persad's Art for AIDS Annual Benefit.

In October 2008, David and his partner Rick Taylor were one of 18,000 same-sex couples married by the State of California prior to the passage of Proposition 8.
