Robert Johnson
Executive Director

Robert Johnson earned a Master of Music degree in piano performance from Northern Arizona University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in music from the State University of New York at Geneseo. Robert’s professional experience includes Associate Director of the Heifetz International Music Institute, a competitive summer music program for advanced string players and pianists, based in Ellicott City, MD, where he enjoyed great success in fundraising, marketing, community outreach and administration. Before joining the Heifetz Institute, he was Assistant Dean at the David Hochstein School for Music and Dance in Rochester, NY, where his duties included faculty and student relations, evaluations, program development and staff management.

A singing member and assistant accompanist for GMCW since spring 2005, Robert is familiar to Chorus audiences and supporters, and is delighted to have been appointed Executive Director. He is an avid lover of musical theatre and has music directed and conducted numerous shows. Most recently he was assistant conductor for the Washington Savoyards’ production of Kiss Me Kate, as well as rehearsal and performance pianist for GMCW’s March 2007 production of The Wizard of Oz.
